Baking for the Book Fair...

11/10/2015

Yes the baking available at our bookfair is legendary and people drive for miles to get it!
Thank you to the families and parents who have pledged baking. There is always the question - what can I make?
Your cakes and loaves are very easy to sell - cookies and muffins in packs of 6-8 sell well too, and a variety of slices are always good.
What ever your speciality is from the kitchen - it is all welcome.
If anyone is amazing at chocolate eclairs - let me know and we shall advertise these along with the bounty that will be available on the day.

The Pounamu students have worked really hard turning over the soil in our memorial garden for Bob. Thank you to Nelmac and David Phillips for the natives and edibles which will be planted. To Lyndsay Karetai for spraying the area and Bob and Kylie Spence for giving us linings to use a weed mat. Mr Sturgeon also did a wonderful job of following the plan to complete the surround. Thank you also to Primepine for allowing us to have the timber at wholesale prices.

In week 1 of term 4 the Pounamu students will be using the compost and extras to help plant these trees and shrubs as per our design.

Thank you to the three parents and 1 grandparent that were able to make the recent meeting in regards to Bookfair - our planning is well  underway. You all would have received notices, information and messages from your children about our sponsorship- pledging and support drive. This is a follow up to the work being done with businesses in town.
Lots of items are being dropped off at school - along with the wonderful message about how much people enjoy our Book Fair, and have the day booked.
Please have a look at the dates when we will be advertising the Book Fair and selling our wonderful TAKE A TRIP RAFFLE tickets at New World and Countdown. Making yourself available for an hour and a half would be greatly appreciated.

End of Term 3

What an amazing term we have had here at Brooklyn School. The students took every opportunity to challenge themselves as they worked hard to achieve the goals they had set at the beginning of the term and the amount of learning that took place was fantastic. From MASSIVE to Science Fairs and everything in between, our students and staff can look forward to a well earned break. We wish all of our families a safe and happy holiday and look forward to seeing you back at the start of Term 4, rested and ready to learn.
The Brooklyn Team.
